The Atlantic Initiative is pleased to invite you to a Zoom round table, which will take place from 09:30 to 13:00 (CET) on Monday, October 31st, 2022.
The purpose of this roundtable is to hear insights from distinguished panellists who have conducted extensive research on Russian influence across Europe and the Western Balkans.
- The first presentation will focus on research conducted by journalist Jessikka Aro and published in her book ‘Putin’s Trolls: On the Frontlines of Russia’s Information War Against the World’. Jessikka is a journalist working for Yle, Finland’s public service broadcaster. In September 2014 she began to investigate pro-Russian Internet trolls but became a victim of their activities herself; the harassment she experienced led to three people being convicted in October 2018.
- The second presentation will present research being led by Michael Colborne, whose current work focuses on ‘Myths, Realities and Threats: Russia and the Transnational Far Right’. Michael is a journalist and leads on the Bellingcat Monitoring project to research and monitor the far right in central and eastern Europe. Michael’s latest book From the Fires of War: Ukraine’s Azov Movement and the Global Far Right explains the emergence of Azov and how it continues to exploit Ukraine’s fractured social and political situation.
We hereby invite you to take part in the webinar and enrich our discussion. Below is the agenda for the event.
The Atlantic Initiative will provide simultaneous translation from Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian to English, and from English to BSC languages.
